The goal of the MBBA is to provide a high quality basketball experience that promotes player and team development, while playing competitive basketball on a traveling tournament team.
2014-15 Program Changes
Here is a list of the relevant changes to the program this year:
Players on Team - 7th & 8th grade will have 8 on A, 9 on B & 10 on C (4th-6th will have 10 on every team)
Equal 4B Teams - 4th grade will have one A team and two equal B teams
Tryout Format - the 3rd session will be shortened to 60 mins, thus Session 1 90 mins, Session 2 60 mins & Session 3 60 mins
Team Slotting - we will not slot down any teams this year
Training Clinics - no charge (thanks to the fundraising efforts last year) and there will be three 60-min In-Season Team Clinics with an expectation that all players attend. Thus, there will be three weeks during the season where the boys will have three practices (the third being only 60 mins).
If you are new to our program, we recommend you read the Program Overview section of our website prior to registering. The fee structure is the same as last year (4th Grade - $325; 5th-8th Grade - $425; discounts for families with multiple players).
Please arrive at the beginning of the scheduled warm-up time (no earlier) on the 14th to take pictures as this assists in the selection process. Also on Sunday the 14th, we will conduct a parent meeting during the last 20 mins of the tryout time for 4th grade - we strongly encourage at least one parent attend.
Attendance is required at all three sessions (see Tryouts Format for exceptions) and each participant should bring a basketball to each session (mark clearly for easy retrieval). 4th-6th grade use an intermediate size ball (28.5") and 7th & 8th grade use a regulation size ball (29.5").

We felt this would be a great opportunity for the boys to get a jumpstart on the season. We have segmented the clinics into: Pre-Tryouts (2 sessions), Pre-Season (3 sessions) & In-Season (3 sessions).
Fee: No Fee (subsidized by our fundraising efforts throughout the year).
Registration: Advance registration required (no walk ups) to ensure we have the appropriate number of coaches. Pre-tryout clinic registration is open until Friday, Sept 5th. Registration will be available shortly!
You will be able to register for the Pre-Tryout clinics by clicking on the above link (registration for the other clinics will be available during & after tryouts).
Welcome to the Summer Challenges – includes both shooting & dribbling! As players you are already putting in the hard work, why not receive a free t-shirt, some recognition & an opportunity to have pizza with the Minnetonka Boys Varsity Basketball team? This program is designed to provide the players an opportunity to track their shooting & dribbling progress throughout the summer (June 11th - Sept 1).
Players are developed in the offseason, while teams are developed during the season.
We have reserved open gym time to provide players the opportunity to work on developing their game – whether specific skills or through pick-up games. Available to all boys entering 4th-8th grades this fall and live in the Minnetonka school district. The MBBA will have a chaperone present at the gym so feel free to stay & watch or drop off your son.
Dates: Tuesday Nights (thru August 19th)
Time: 6:00–7:30 pm (4th-6th); 7:30-9:00 (7th-8th)

Midwest 3-on-3 Leagues
These basketball leagues are designed for boys and girls grades 3-12. The Midwest 3 on 3 leagues offer an exciting, affordable opportunity to enhance individual and team skills. The smaller team size increases offensive and defensive opportunities for each player through basic fundamental team play. The intent of this format is to provide a fun, competitive learning environment for all players. Visit www.midwest3on3.com
